Learn to Read Music Online

If you want to learn to read music online there are some fantastic resources at your fingertips simply by typing into the search bars. However, it can be tricky and time consuming to have this kind of breadcrumb education. What you need is some structure and a lesson plan.

You would be very well off to go get yourself a music book that has everything you need. If you don’t want to pay for anything and just need resources, then by all means turn to the internet for every free resource you can find. If you can pay less than $40, I highly recommend Rocket Piano, it’s an online software that will give you everything you need without leaving your house and will give you more than a simple book would.

I found this awesome website a second ago for learning how to read sheet music that was very informative. Rather than reinvent the wheel for you I will simply point you in the right direction.

This of course can only give you the basic of basics, if you have any questions please leave a comment for me. But it boils down to understanding the staff, the lines and spaces as well as key signature and timing.

Once you learn Every Good Boy Does Fine (LINES) and FACE (SPACES) for the treble clef, and Good Boys Do Fine Always (LINES) and All Cows Eat Grass (spaces) for the Bass clef, you are well on your way to being able to read any song. The above link is a visual guide of what I just explained.

Memorize those sayings so that you can easily begin to see what the notes are on the lines and spaces, and then you will take it to the next level and learn where those notes are on the piano. It doesn’t take long to learn how to read music and the more you do it, the faster you will get 🙂
